Self Promotion Brings Business Success

By Wendy Maynard Your business success depends on your ability to promote your services, your products, and yourself. Fortunately, promotion is simple. I know…you hate selling. “But, I’m not a born salesperson,” you say. “I don’t want to hustle people.” And, images of high-pressure, arm-twisting solicitors come to mind. But, that doesn’t have to be you. You’re not pushing your services/products onto others; people will buy them because they need them and because they have a relationship with you. It’s the personal connection you make with your prospects that will help them remember you, and like you. Self-promotion doesn’t come easily to everyone. But, to grow your business, you must market your services and your products everyday. Your selling job consists of two things: First, making people aware of your services/products and second, making it easy for them to do business with you. Here are some easy marketing tips: 1. Evaluate your promotional materials: Are they consistent? Do they appear professional, yet personal? Your promotional materials should put your customers first, and discuss ways that you can help them. Write with the intent of creating value for the clients you serve. Use a professional agency to design your marketing message and refine your corporate identity. Keep the style, fonts, and colors the same for your letters, brochures, and newsletters. 2. Persuade naturally: Develop a partnership with your customers. Approach each client’s situation as a team effort, rather than something that you are supplying. Don’t rattle off your capabilities; instead, tell your prospect a story about how you helped another client. 3. Develop your personal presence: A winning image starts with how you look. Pay attention to your appearance, the way you make eye contact, how you use your voice, the things you talk about, and the firmness of you handshake - these reflect how well you think of yourself and how you want others to think of you. 4. Create the right telephone presence: A phone call may be the first contact you have with a potential customer. Create the same kind of atmosphere that you would in a face-to-face meeting. Listen carefully to what your prospective client says and really respond. 5. Handwrite a message in your correspondence: Include this personal touch whether it’s a thank-you note or a simple P.S. at the bottom of a letter. 6. Show your customers that you appreciate them: Do things that help your clients. For example, record a “tip of the day” on your voice mail message, send clients two tickets to a special event with a note, photocopy interesting articles and send them to clients and prospects with a hand-written “FYI” note and your business card. ADHD Medications - Do They Carry Risks for the Heart?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Aslam_M] Aslam M The cardiac risk of the drugs for ADHD have attracted interest recently following the recommendation by the Drug Safety and Risk Management Advisory Committee of the FDA to include a black-box warning describing the cardiovascular risks of stimulant drugs used to treat this condition. However, this recommendation has subsequently been toned down by the Pediatric Advisory Committee of the FDA. ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) is a disorder mainly diagnosed in school age children. It is characterized by increased activity, an inability to concentrate and poor school performance. Stimulant drugs have been the mainstay of treatment of ADHD. These include amphetamine and related drugs like methamphetamine and methylphenidate (Ritalin). It is estimated that 2.5 million children now take stimulants for ADHD in the USA. A growing number of adults also take the drug, with a diagnosis of “adult ADHD”, which has recently come into vogue. However, the numbers are quite small in Europe and elsewhere. Now let us come to the crux of the matter. Why are these drugs supposed to cause heart problems? These stimulant drugs belong to the class of sympathomimetic amines. Cardiovascular effects of these compounds have been well studied. They act by stimulating the sympathetic nervous system and increase heart rate and blood pressure significantly. One study with a commercially marketed formulation showed an increase in systolic BP by about 5 mm Hg in treated adults. Such a rise of BP, argues the Drug Safety and Risk Management Advisory committee, can cause definite adverse effects on long term therapy. The induced increase in heart rate also has well-described adverse effects on the heart. Persistent increase in heart rate may induce chronic heart failure as demonstrated in animal models of dilated cardiomyopathy. The Committee also cites the examples of Ephedra (ma huang), marketed as a dietary supplement and phenylpropanolamine, an over the counter nasal decongestant, which belong to the same class. They have been known to have caused several well publicized adverse effects. Studies have reported that ephedra containing supplements accounted for 64% of the serious adverse reactions to supplements reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, although their sales represented less than 1% of all dietary-supplement sales. A 16-fold increase in the risk of stroke has been reported among women taking phenylpropanolamine as a weight loss drug. Drug Safety and Risk Management Advisory committee studied cases of myocardial infarction, stroke and sudden death in children and adults taking ADHD stimulants which have been reported to the FDA’s Adverse Event Reporting System (AERS). This could represent only a tip of the iceberg as only 1 to 10 percent of serious adverse events are actually reported. Some had evidence of undiagnosed heart disease on autopsy and the documentation was frequently incomplete. Despite these difficulties, the advisory committee decided to recommend strong preemptive action. Factors which the committee cited as the reason for the action included the tendency of these drugs to raise blood pressure and heart rate, the history of serious adverse effects associated with two drugs of the class (ephedra and phenylpropanolamine) and the rapid increase in exposure, particularly among adults. Though the committee noted important potential benefits of these drugs for certain highly affected children, they felt that the administration of these potent sympathomimetic agents to millions of Americans is inappropriate. The recommendations emphasize more selective and restricted use of these drugs while increasing the awareness of potential hazards. However, FDA’s Pediatric Advisory Committee was of the opinion that adding strong black-box warnings could cause more harm than good and may frighten patients. They, on the other hand, called for new information about health risks on the labels of attention deficit drugs. This would benefit doctors, patients and parents. They said that patients and parents should know about the reports even though it is unclear if the drugs contributed to the problems. Now, the FDA has to decide on the difficult problem of how to communicate the potential risks associated with ADHD drugs. The FDA will consider both panels’ recommendations before making a final labeling decision. Aslam M is an expert in Cardiolgy. Want to lose Weight? Be a Good Owner!

By Janice Elizabeth Small If you had a dog and didn’t treat it well - you starved it on some days, overfed it on others, gave it far too many doggie treats and not enough doggie nourishment or water, kept it indoors in front of the TV and gave it no exercise, berated it for being lazy and fat - how would you feel about yourself as a dog owner? Would you say you were negligent? Would you expect the animal welfare people to be keeping an eye on you? You’d feel bad about that, right? But when it comes to you, how do you treat yourself? Are you like the bad doggie owner? Do you give yourself the right food and exercise? Do you give yourself enough fresh air and water? Do you get all the vitamins you need? Do you give yourself enough gentle encouragement and pats on the back? Would you say your health and well-being are worth as much as any dog’s? Of course they are! Somehow, because we are responsible for our own health we think it’s Ok to be neglect ourselves. At least we think it’s Ok until something goes wrong - until we get to the stage where we hate our shape, we have heart problems, we can’t get around so easily or whatever. And then we struggle with changing our diet and our way of life because those old ways have become a comfortable habit. But you CAN switch to being a “good owner” if you think your body and your health are worth it. And not just for a few weeks or months while you get in shape but permanently so that you never have to think about it again. Like a dog, you can’t just retrain yourself overnight by switching your routine - you have to relearn new habits so that the whole process becomes automatic and as comfortable as your old way of living. But they can be learnt without too much effort. It takes just 21 days to learn a new habit. And the rewards are huge - the difference between a happy dog, full of energy with a wagging tail and an overweight snarling miserable dog lying in its basket all day is really just a few new habits away. Which habits will you start to change today? Payday Loans Online

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ross_Bainbridge]Ross Bainbridge There are a lot of companies that offer online payday loans. These Internet companies are solely dedicated to getting ones loan processed and sanctioned. A payday loan is a simple way of obtaining cash that one needs until ones next payday. Once you complete an application online you send in your bank account statement. Once the verification of the statement and balance are done, and after it is made sure that the bank account is not in bankruptcy, cash is transferred into your bank account. If you have problems paying back the loan amount on the due date you can always extend the date by having the fees withdrawn directly from the account. To get an online payday loan one has to be over 18 years of age, a US citizen, hold an active account, be employed and have access to a fax machine. After filling in the application form you send in documents, like a copy of your passport, proof of address and bank statement. If you complete the online application form the money will be credited to your account the next business day. The application page is safe because it is protected by a secured encryption. All the information sent to the site will be encrypted, and any user who intercepts the communication will only be able to view the encrypted form. These online companies have certain technologies that help them decrypt the information into normal text. Some online companies want you only to fill in the application form and do not ask for any other documents. After filling in the application form you need to talk to the loan agent, and the cash would be in your account the next business day. The data is verified by a phone call. The copies of the application are e-mailed to the applicant for every loan and loan extension. Therefore you can view, print and save them whenever you want to. You sign your loan request online using a PIN. Your PIN and social security number will help in identification while requesting a payment change or a new loan. Thus, online payday loans are an easier option to obtain cash. Decorating a Birdhouse

By James Patterson Having a craft project to work on as a family is a great way to pass the time. It allows for something to be accomplished together and becomes a point of pride for all involved. This is especially important during the summer months when the kids are out of school and may be stir crazy for something to do. Building and decorating a bird house is something that parents and kids can do together. It is relatively cheap and can provide hours of entertainment even after the project is completed. If your child is anything like me, they will love anything that can fly and by building a bird house it will help them to watch birds and may even challenge them to find out even more about the types of birds that frequent your backyard. Building Your Birdhouse Three are many different ways that you can go about building your bird house. If you want your kids to have some input, it is important for the design to remain simple. However, if building the bird house is simply for your own craft, there are many complicated and fascinating designs that can be followed. It all depends on what you are looking for from your birdhouse. Looking to impress the neighbors? There are designs that will make your own home look like a shack! If you want your kids to be a part of the process it is very easy to make your birdhouse very simple. It is quite possible to use four or five pieces of wood and construct one with very little in the way of tools. This will allow your kids to claim ownership over the birdhouse from start to finish. Painting Your Birdhouse This is where your kids will have a blast! If you approached correctly, your kids will realize that this is actually a house for birds and they need to decorate it as they would their own house. Again, this will be a great exercise for kids to visualize and might spark a greater interest in birds and other animals. Although there are many ways to go about painting your birdhouse, one the best ways to go about doing this is to use a sponge brush. This will give you enough control to do what you want. Sponge brushes are also great for kids. They dont hold too much paint, but are still able to get the job done. One thing to keep in mind is that the paint you use should not contain any chemicals that will have potential harm to the bird who will be visiting. Please take careful notice of the type of paint you are using. Not only could this be fatal to the birds, but it could also be traumatic to your kids. Another thing to consider is to leave the inside of the birdhouse free of any paint. It should be completely natural and free of chemicals so that the birds can freely make a home inside. How Bright Should My Birdhouse Be Painted? Although it might be fun to paint your birdhouse a loud color that will stand out in your yard, and this might be your kids color of choice, it is important to recognize that bright colors will not necessarily attract more birds. In the wild, female birds are a more subdued color for protection. This will often translate into where birds attempt to find shelter. If your birdhouse is too bright, it might not attract birds. James has been in the bird world for over 10 years, spending most of it breeding exotic birds. He has also written many articles for his local bird club’s newsletter.Site: http://www.birdflights.com/beak.pl/cedar/how/butterfly-audubon.html Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=James_Patterson http://EzineArticles.com/?Decorating-a-Birdhouse&id=259806 zolpidem sanval buy cheap ambien online ambien erection problems zolpidem 10 mg overnight

Abdominal Liposuction - When Diets Don’t Work

By Seth Miller Abdominal liposuction refers to liposuction, or lipoplasty, that is performed on the torso area. Most candidates for this procedure have attempted a diet and exercise routine but are unable to achieve their goal of a flatter stomach. It is very common that fat deposits in the abdominal area are difficult to diminish, especially in women after childbirth. The abdominal area is generally one of the best areas of the body for this type of cosmetic surgery. However, as with most cosmetic surgeries, abdominal liposuction is generally not considered medically necessary and risk factors should be considered. Many abdominal liposuction surgeries are performed using the tumescent technique. This method involves injecting a solution of local anesthetics into area to be treated. The fluids help the area to swell, leaving an opening where the liposuction tube can be easily inserted and navigated. With this technique the risks of blood loss and general anesthesia are eliminated and recovery time may well be reduced. Many doctors claim that recipients of the tumescent method can often return to work in as little as three days. Many factors are taken into consideration when a patient requests abdominal liposuction. In the case of women who have given birth, pregnancy often leaves pouches of fat in the abdominal area that are seemingly resistant to diet and exercise. According to physicians, most women who have this type of liposuction performed are happy with the results and very few require an additional tummy-tuck. Abdominal liposuctions are also very effective in eliminating the bulge associated with C-sections and hysterectomies. Another factor to consider is the location of the body fat. Physicians refer to the two types of abdominal fat as superficial and deep. Superficial body fat is the fat that exists between the muscle tissue and the surface skin. Deep (or intestinal) fat resides below the muscle tissue and is actually located on the intestines. While liposuction can effectively remove fat that is superficial, it is not possible to remove intestinal body fat with this method. This type of fat can only be removed by diet and exercise no surgical procedure is safe or available to remove deep fat. The good news for patients is that most people have much more superficial fat than deep fat, thereby greatly increasing the success rate for abdominal liposuction. Some factors that influence results include prior obesity, gender, and age. In the case of recent obesity and weight loss, the fat is very fibrous and is very difficult to remove. Those over the age of 60 tend to have more elastic, less firm skin, thereby making liposuction difficult, and may not achieve the desired outcome. Since women tend to have less fibrous fat pockets than men, abdominal liposuction is usually easier to perform on women. The key to obtaining desired results and feeling satisfied with the surgery is to be comfortable and knowledgable about all aspects of the procedure. History of Essential Oils

By Gerry McCarthy Extracted from botanicals, that is, from plants and trees. They are part of the plants immune system processed by distillation but others such as the citrus oils may be extracted in different ways. Essential Oils are all natural, so they work in harmony with nature. They are more concentrated than the herbs they were extracted from and they contain hormones, vitamins, antiseptics that work on our immune systems. Essential Oils are up to 100 times more concentrated than dried herbs, so they must be used with caution. Essential oils to a greater lesser extents are antiseptic (it combats infection), bactericide (they kill bacteria or inhibit the growth of bacteria), when applied to the skin the generally promote cell rejuvenation and assist all kinds of skin problems. They may be inhaled, applied to the skin (usually with a carrier oil) or they may be taken internally under the supervision of a qualified practitioner. It is not safe for an individual to take internally without the assistance of a practitioner because they are extremely concentrated. Mixed in a carrier oil generally would contain bout 2% essential oil and 98% carrier oil. Carrier oils could include Jojoba, which in fact is not an oil but rather an Ester which contains lots of Vitamin E and is favored by massage therapists as it never turn rancid and when used alone does not discolor the sheets they work with. Others may include Almond, Walnut,Etc. The most popular being Almond, it has a limited shelf life, so often massage therapists will request that we mix 10% Jojoba with 90% Almond to extend it’s shelf life. They have been with us since antiquity. Certainly the Egyptians mastered the art for therapeutic reasons and learned allot about them using the oils to embalm the great citizens, the pharaohs and high priests who died. Eventually, the ability to do this led the high priest, who was also the Aromatherapists of the day, to apply the therapeutic benefits to themselves and other people in the Egyptian society. This use continued for many thousands of years but was largely abandoned in the US around the 1850′S when we entered what we call the Age of Science and abandoned the Age of Sensible medicine, being mostly continued in Europe and certainly Asia for the benefit of the people in those societies. Their use recently returned to the US because of the eventual failure of antibacterial’s to cure allot of the illnesses that they used to cure. Essential oils being very complex were very difficult for bacteria and viruses to defend themselves from and also had the benefit of little or no side effects contrary to medicines that you see on the pharmacy shelves today. There are many books written about aromatherapy essential oils and their application and also giving us a descriptive knowledge of our sense of smell and why they are so effective whether inhaled or put upon our skin. One booklet that is good to begin with is Carol Corlo’s book “Enhance the Quality of Life with Aromatherapy”. It is only 19 pages but is a great introduction to Aromatherapy and from there is your interest is increased you can go onto some of the fine books that appear in better bookstores everywhere or see in your local libraries. Essential Oils can influence our mood, they can pick us up when we are down, help us relax when we are feeling anxious. Essential Oils also have a physical value. We are all familiar with Eucalyptus, Lavender & Tea Tree, that when inhaled or applied to the skin give relief from many illnesses or symptoms of many illnesses. Gerald F. McCarthy holds a patent on the unique diffuser used in all ESSENTIAL AIR models. Over the years McCarthy of Leyden House has accumulated seventeen patents in the field of energy and health related products. A speech pathologist by profession he was intrigued by the beneficial effects of natural healing and began searching for ways to deliver essential oils more effectively. By Gabriel J. Adams What better way to spend those warm days of spring and summer in your own yard then lounging in a hammock? Sentimental Value Of A Piece Of Wood

By Terry Weber This may sound strange to you but I can get sentimental over a piece of wood. As I look at a specific piece of wood and think about it, it can actually bring tears to my eyes. Its true. I can almost hear your comments about what I just said. Youre thinking: Terry, you are just a softy you probably even cried the first time you saw the Dumbo movie! Not so. During my last 78 years Ive done some pretty macho things: As a teenager I was a rough, tough Bosns Mate in the US Navy. Later I got into making cold sales calls while trying to make enough money for my young family to survive. Believe you me, that first sales call Id ever made in my life was a hard thing for me to do and it took a lot of guts! Later, I learned how to fly a Piper Cub airplane off of a grass strip runway. Flying with the instructor aboard was fun. But then one day, after Id made a series of good landings, my instructor said: Terry, Im outta here, you take her up, go around the pattern and land all by yourself. You dont need me anymore. I can tell you, that first solo flight was scary! Then, when I was 70 I achieved another of my dreams I learned to fly a hang glider. What great fun it is to bank and turn and soar with no engine, just like an eagle! I tell you these things, not to brag but to let you know it can take an awful lot to make a rugged guy like me - cry. So why do I cry over a piece of wood? Heres why. Years ago in the mid 40s, my family had a 34 foot wooden sailboat that was built around 1900. Her name was: Severn. We sailed her on the Chesapeake, on Delaware Bay and many other cruises up and down the Atlantic coast. We all had a wonderful time as we sailed on her, together as a family. Eventually she leaked so much we had to scrap her. One day, many years later. I drove to the boat yard to see if the old Severn was still there. I found her off in the corner of the yard, but by this time she was just a rotting hulk. Then, for old times sake I picked up a piece of the wood from her transom and took it home with me and stored it in my garage. That was my first piece of sentimental wood. Another time, after my favorite Uncle Earls funeral, I asked if I could have one of his crutches to remember him by. In his childhood, my uncle had been a victim of Polio, infantile paralysis. He spent most of his life on those crutches while working hard and later becoming a millionaire. I added that crutch to my garages collection of sentimental wood. Back in 69 I built (from plans), in my cellar, a 14 Piver catamaran sailboat out of 1/8 plywood with Sitka Spruce ribs and spars. My sons and daughters and I had great fun sailing that catamaran for many exciting hours out on New Jerseys Barnegat Bay. Eventually she fell apart. But, you guessed it - I saved some of the wood from the Catspaw and added it to that ever-growing sentimental wood collection in my garage. Ive saved that pile of sentimental wood for many years with no real purpose in mind. Recently, one of my sons has learned to use his woodworkers lathe to make pens out of wood. So, on an impulse, I gave Dave some wood from the Old Severn, my uncles crutch and some Sitka Spruce from our now trashed catamaran and asked him to use the wood to make some Sentimental Wood pens for me. My plan is to give those pens to my kids and other family members. Together, we can hold and look at and use those Sentimental Wood pens and - remember. Then, as we think back to the events the wood in those pens brings to mind, all of us tough old birds may even shed a few tears together.
